Anak Krakatoa – the legend’s child

The eruption of Krakatau (Krakatoa Volcano) in 1883 is considered to be the most deadliest eruption in modern history, killed almost 36.000 people. The volcano is located in Sunda Strait between the island Java and Sumatra. After the explosion, in 1927, an island emerged from the caldera and named Anak Krakatau (Child of Krakatoa) and is still active.
